Reiki is a form of spiritual healing developed in 1922 by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui.
Reiki therapists channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being, giving the subject a feeling of peace and calm.
Most people find it intensely relaxing and comforting.
Each session lasts about an hour. The recipient removes his or her shoes and relaxes fully clothed on a massage table, covered by a sheet or blanket.
Reiki is done through light, non-invasive touching on specific locations on the body, and does not involve any pressure or massage. Be sure to share if you have any injuries or have any areas that are sensitive to touch.
During your session, just let the Reiki relax you.
You may daydream, listen to the music, or just let the waves of sensations envelope you. Some people slide into a deep sleep-like state, others just feel fully relaxed.
Some experiences may be dramatic and intense while others
have a mild reaction.
